I know its been a long time since I've posted. I'm not actually sure if anyone even reads this still but I want to update.

All of the kittens have found homes, Ginger did as well, right here with us. No one in the community reached out and offered her a home, and I couldn't take her to the shelter. She has a very special place in my heart and we have formed a strong bond.

About two weeks ago I received a wonderful blessing and that was updated pictures of Sesame from adoptive home. The pictures made my day and really made the last 4 months worthwhile. Bringing Ginger (and her babies) into our lives was not easy. It lessened the time I was able to spend with my own cats and other pets and obviously additional finances. But in the end it served my ultimate purpose. Two weeks ago Ginger was spayed and will no longer contribute to the pet overpopulation, and two of her babies were spayed and neutered that day as well.

Another kitten found a home today and I am so pleased. Nutmeg the tortie has gone to a new home and will have a slightly older brother!

This leaves Sage, Sesame and Ginger (the momma) left for adoption. All three are adorable and sweet.

It is very bittersweet to see the babies growing and leaving.

Baby Pepper (who was a Dill) is adapting to life with two older brothers quite well, now if they'll just adjust to life with a younger sister everything will be great.

Baby Mace has adapted great to his older sister and brother!

The kittens are developing many new traits, habits and abilities this week They are truly running, jumping from higher heights, playing alittle rougher with each other and trying to gain some independence. They are interested in more "cat" like activities and love playing with toys. My how the time has gone by--each has such a special place in my heart.

My oh my, its been too long for an update. The babies are growing and not babies anymore. They are running and playing and a constant joy!

Ginger has weaned them mostly but a couple of them just don't want to give up their momma! She's been very patient though and is letting them take their time.

They are all eating wet and dry food, drinking from the water bowl and all use the litter box with ease--well minus a few accidents where they've stepped in their messes and we've had to give mini baths! But human meowmy is teaching them how to properly cover so they don't step in their messes!

As is stands the only kittens available are the three girls--
Nutmeg (tortie)
Sesame (cream) and
Sage (torbie)

And sweet momma Ginger (torbie) is looking for a home as well. The kittens will be 8 weeks old on June 15 and hopefully 2lbs so they are ready to spay with their vouchers from SCOOP.

If you have questions about them or want more pictures of a particular baby please let me know and I'll try and make that happen for you!

The babies are starting to use the litter box--its so precious, and bittersweet to see them growing up. Ginger has such patience for them.

They are also loving their baby food, they look forward to a meal in the morning and evening.

Sesame (cream) is a busy body, adventurous and always in the middle of things.
Nutmeg (tortie) is nosey, contemplative and a good eater.
Sage (torbie) is sweet, curious and loves to nap with her brother Dill.
Dill (blue/white) is goofy, a fuzz ball and loves his belly rubbed.
Mace (black/white) is calm, careful and cuddley.

They will be looking for their furrever homes around June 15--they will be 8 weeks old

The babies had the first taste of real food today and they all loved it!!

They have mouths full of teeth and are just adorable as ever!

I'm not sure when it got to be the 15th but oh well.

The babies are on the move. Three of five have figured out how to get out of the nest box--all the girls...makes you wonder about the boys...

Little Miss Sesame the cream girl tasted her first bite of cat little today--it apparently wasn't good. Hopefully thats the end of that for her--I'm sure the others will try as well when they finally reach the box.

They are just adorable and Ginger is sweet as ever. She's so good with them, very patient with them now that they are so busy, she's a great mom.

The babies are 18 days old today, which means they've been here as long as Ginger was here prior to their birth. Life was very different 36 days ago.

I just weighed the babies and they are doing so good. Turning into little cats--sitting up right, holding their little tails up, playing with each other a little and getting close to climbing out of the nest box.

They are a blessing to me and I hope they are a blessing to their adoptive families.

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Well the babies are 16 days old today and growing minute by minute!

Before long the nest will no longer be enough to contain them so I'm preparing to hook up the addition tomorrow and change their nest box to an open sided box--meant for kitten exploring!

Everyone seems to be passing the eye infection along but its not serious at all--they are getting more and more fiesty when it comes to getting meds in their little eyes!

Cream kitten is up to 3/4 of a pound today with the other 4 not far behind.

LS

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Apparently its been a few days since I updated--been busy!

Everyone is doing great--growing like weeds! The cream one's eye is doing much better, its not crusted closed anymore and no puss.

They are all quite active and hopefully by Tuesday or so I'll change their nest box to an open box so that they can start exploring--once they figure out how to escape the nest that is. I'll also add the extension to their cage at that point--they're going to need lots of room!

I think we have four boys and a girl but thats just my best guess!

All peepers open today!!

We do seem to have a problem though--okay I seem to have a problem though, I'm terribly smitten with a particular cream colored kitten.

LS

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

We have some many little peepers opening today!!

Little cream one is struggling with its eyes--they are crusting closed. So I'm going to wipe them 3-4 times a day to keep them open. I brought him in the house to get the towel to wipe his eyes and my male cat was not thrilled with the baby cries--he hissed something awful!!

All are gaining weight steadily each day!

LS

The babies are 1 week old today!!

I took some pictures and will try and post them later! Two babies have eyes open--so cute!

Sunday, April 26, 2009

Healthy babies again today--they have grown so much--I can't believe they'll be a week old tomorrow!

LS

Saturday, April 25, 2009

I just realized I failed to post the colors of the kittens. It appears we have a blue with white mittens, cream, tortie and two torbie's like mom. I'm going out soon to weigh them for the day. Unseasonably warm today 84 degrees so hoping to keep them babies cool--who would have thought a week ago I was worried about keeping Ginger and the babies warm.

LS

Friday, April 24, 2009

Ginger's babies all made great progress on their weights today--I am still going to bottle feed a couple just to help them along! They are so sweet!

LS

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Everybody gained weight this morning!

Ginger was a little upset with me because I had to take all her babies to put a new blanket in her nest box. She then took one baby out of the nest box, but realized she has no other option and took it back in.

Cream kitten is up to 5.0 ounces--what a brute!

LS

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Ginger and her babies are doing well.

I'm monitoring their weights closely and bottle fed a few of the smaller ones today to help them gain a little.

Tomorrow will be the true test on who truly needs bottle fed during the day to help. I'll weigh them around 11 AM just like I have the last 2 days.

Ginger is being a great mom.

LS

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Everyone seems to be doing great this morning!

I checked everyone out and weighed each kitten. I will try to weigh them each morning to ensure that they are gaining weight each day.

They are sweet as can be--so is Ginger.

Monday, April 20, 2009

Ginger has FIVE beautiful babies!

I'll list all the details tomorrow after I weigh them etc. and hopefully have photos and maybe even gender guesses.

She's doing great with them, attentive to their cries. She comes to great us at the cage door and as soon as they make a peep she gets a worried look that says "gotta go, duty calls" and goes right back to them.

LS
I think four at least 3--can't get a good look in the nest box at this point. All white, light gray and dark gray it appears.

I probably won't get pictures til tomorrow at the earliest.

Leaving her to rest and nurse at this point.

I'll update after work
We have babies!!!!

Sunday, April 19, 2009

The last two days Ginger has been laying outside of her nesting box, I'm not sure if she doesnt' like it or just prefers being out of it. Either way no babies. I'm debating removing the closed box and giving an open nest box. But next three days cold so I hate to do and risk cold kittens. Upper 70's end of the week!

I've been waiting 17 days for kittens and I'm tired of waiting.

LS

Saturday, April 18, 2009

One of these days I'll be able to say the precious babies are here!

Food was gone this morning and Ginger seems to be acting normal. It's a beautiful warm day, and I have a busy day. So like someone has told me I'm sure she'll pick the time when I can't be here.

Friday, April 17, 2009

I must have forgotten to post this morning.

No babies--no appetite today though, so I may check her through the night but honestly I would say not until tomorrow or Sunday. She isn't showing any signs other than loss of appetite.

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Promised I'd check on her every hour--she seemed to not want me to leave her earlier. I've never felt more like this was the night than I do now. Something just feels different. When I went to come inside she put her paw through the cage and held it on my arm and her little sweet eyes locked with mine--thats when I promised I'd check every hour. I'm gonna be a mess tomorrow for work!

LS
A content still pregnant Ginger this morning!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

Nothing still! She gulped her dinner right down. Although she gave me a run for my money when I tried to clean her cage. I have to put her in her carrier and she's on to my plan. I finally got her in with food.

I'm trying to figure out to work with my paypal account so that if anyone would like to donate to Ginger's cause they can. I am getting vouchers from a local non profit for her spay and the babies, it will cost $14 a piece that includes the surgery and then the FVRCP vaccine. With two cats of my own the next 10 weeks are going to start to get costly. I've already spent $50 on the vet visit (office visit and FIV/FeLV test) and $20 on supplies (food, litter, litter box)

Leslie
Nothing this morning!

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

No babies as of 9:00PM but I think tonight. I'm going to check on her before I go to bed and perhaps check again around 3 AM. She showed no interest in her dinner.

I won't update until morning.

LS
No babies! Ginger is definitely not herself this morning. Isn't talking to me, didn't finish her dinner last night and didn't eat when I replenished her dry food this morning. There is a possibility she's starting to breathe alittle heavy. We could have babies today.

I'm leaving around noon and will be back around 6:15 PM so we'll see how things are at that point and I'll try and update.

I don't want to get my hopes up, but I think today is THE DAY!

LS

Monday, April 13, 2009

As of last check at about 6:15 PM no babies. I fed Ginger her wet food and she dug right in.

I want to meet her babies!!!

Hopefully tonight will be the night--although its miserable out cold and stormy, if she waited a couple more days it would be a warm and sunny day. Oh who am I kidding, have them tonight Ginger!

I'll try and update in the morning tomorrow. Obviously if we have kittens I'll update right away.

Sunday, April 12, 2009

No Easter Babies!

Ginger's appetite is still going strong, in fact she ate 1/3 cup of kibble in like 30 minutes.

I changed out her nest bedding today to newspaper--I think it will be easier to clean up after the birthing process.

She definitely has her milk in so my new guess is Tuesday--5 babies.

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Momma is bigger today--which means still no babies!

Her appetite is great, she wants love love love and is so talkative.

I received great news today, Momma and all her babies will receive vouchers for spay/neuter. It will cost just $10 to have each spay/neutered at the UCAN. I really hope that I am able to do this for the potential adopters. It is so important that the cycle stops here. I don't want Momma to deliver again and I don't want any of her babies to parent either. Controlling the pet overpopulation is so important, and when taking Momma--Ginger, on that was my biggest cause. I pray that the potential adopters will know just how much these kittens/cat were loved here.

No babies today.

Momma has a name--Ginger! It seems to suit her well. She didn't finish her wet meal tonight and is acting alittle different. It's starting to make me anxious--I feel the need to run out and check on her every hour but I'm going to leave her be. Maybe I'll wake up to kittens in the morning.

I put in my guess of Sunday and four kittens

My husband put in his guess of Sunday or Monday four kittens as well

Time will tell.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

No babies today.

Momma still has a great appetite, she finished her wet meal tonight quickly and dug into her dry food again.

She's staying in her nest box more, I think we are getting closer to baby time--I hope so. I told her this morning I wanted to meet her babies, so hurry up.

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Momma went to the vet today. Dr. Wright says she's very healthy. She weighed in at 9.6 lbs, her temperature was normal, no fleas and the best news of all FIV and FeLV negative! He says she should have the babies in the next week, lots of kitten movement in the exam room.

It was so special to spend some relaxed (yes relaxed even at the vet's office) time with Momma, she has to stay in the cage at all times because I fear her running off. But she was able to lay in my lap in the exam room and she just wanted scratches and lovin's. She's so sweet and will be a great momma I think.
